SOTA Strategies for industry towards FLOSS and vice versa
This report identifies and compares current strategies for industry and Open Source communities in order to be able to formulate and discuss new strategies. These strategies shall encompass the problems of diverging evolution lines of industrial systems comprising Open source on one side and of Open Source systems on the other side. They shall also consider the psychological aspects and different interests between big industry, small industry, and Open Source communities. The main problems that occur when industry wants to integrate Open Source into their products and solutions are: legal aspects, like licenses, IPRs and liability, quality problems concerning technical aspects and process aspects, and aspects concerning strategies of industry towards Open Source communities, but also of public administrations and SMEs offering Open Source as parts of their solutions. The formulation uses scenarios to identify the problems and their circumstances
